Hydrocarbures : Aliko Dangote veut construire une nouvelle méga-raffinerie au Nigéria
Speaking at the "Africa We Build" summit in Nairobi, Kenya, on Thursday, Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote discussed his Lekki mega-refinery in Nigeria. He stated that the completion of this massive industrial facility is clear proof that large-scale and complex industrial projects can be undertaken on the continent.
Africa's richest man then pledged to Kenyan President William Ruto and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to build a new mega-refinery in East Africa within five years if he is supported by the region's leaders.
"If they support the refinery project, we will build one identical to the one we have in Nigeria."
“Even now, I can make a commitment to the two presidents present. If they support the refinery project, we will build one identical to the one we have in Nigeria, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day…My commitment today is that if we reach an agreement with the three or four governments present regarding the refinery, we will take the lead and ensure that this refinery is built in the next four or five years,” said the Kano native.
It must be said that his proposal comes in a rather favorable context. Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo already had plans to build a joint refinery in Tanga, Tanzania.
