Kidal : Le Conseil régional de la société civile décrit une situation sécuritaire dramatique et désavoue le FLA et le JNIM
In Mali, the Kidal Regional Civil Society Council issued a statement on April 29th to condemn in the strongest terms the coordinated attacks carried out by terrorists on Saturday, April 25th in Gao, Mopti, Kidal, Sévaré, Kati and Bamako.
According to the document, which bears the signature of Sidi Mohamed Ag Almoctar, the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA) and JNIM are absolutely not the voice of the people of Kidal. Rather, they sow death, desolation, and division, the council accuses, complaining of a dramatic security and humanitarian situation in this strategic city in northern Mali.
The council denounces the JNIM and the FLA for committing sexual assaults against women and girls.
Indeed, according to the statement, the population, under direct threat from terrorists, is fleeing the city to unknown destinations, abandoning homes, belongings, and livelihoods. Entire families, including women, children, and the elderly, are wandering without protection, exposed to insecurity, hunger, and thirst. Businesses are being vandalized and looted, and homes are being ransacked. The council denounces the JNIM and the FLA for committing sexual assaults against women and girls, describing these acts of sexual violence as war crimes and massive human rights violations.
The council also paid tribute to all the victims of the attacks on Saturday, April 25, including the Minister of Defense, General Sadio Camara.
