ECOWAS calls for restraint in the face of escalation in the Middle East

La CEDEAO appelle à la retenue face à l'escalade au Moyen-Orient

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has expressed its concern over the intensification of hostilities in the Gulf region, including strikes involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

Under the chairmanship of Julius Maada Bio, the West African organization aligned itself with the position of the African Union, denouncing an escalation likely to worsen regional instability and have serious repercussions on global energy markets, trade and food security, particularly in Africa.

ECOWAS calls on all parties to exercise restraint, respect the UN Charter and international law, and protect civilians and infrastructure. It also advocates for strengthened diplomatic efforts to restore stability and prioritize the peaceful resolution of disputes.
