« L’Afrique est maudite… », affirme Théophile Obenga, compagnon intellectuel de Cheikh Anta Diop
Théophile Obenga, an eminent Congolese historian, linguist, and Egyptologist, was, along with Cheikh Anta Diop, a major proponent of Afrocentricity. The professor and the Senegalese scholar brilliantly demonstrated, at the Cairo Colloquium in 1974, the Black African origins of ancient Egypt.
Now 90 years old, Théophile Obenga, the man whom many consider to be the most faithful disciple and intellectual companion of Cheikh Anta Diop, gave an interview to the YouTube channel, Les Funérailles du Tabou.
"The West has so thoroughly dominated the African mind, except for the mind of Cheikh Anta Diop alone."
In this interview, the native of Mbaya denounced the domination of "the African spirit" by the West.
“Africa is cursed. The West has so thoroughly dominated the African spirit, except for the spirit of Cheikh Anta Diop alone. Everything else is dominated. We are all dominated by the West. When the West says, ‘We will help you,’ everyone believes it. When it says, ‘Third World countries,’ ‘You are the poorest,’ everyone believes it. When it says, ‘Strategic partnership,’ you believe it. What does it mean when you subscribe to such nonsense?” asks Théophile Obenga.
He reveals that China and its people don't even consider themselves to be Third World, even though they number over a billion. But unfortunately in Africa, "all it takes is for a little white guy to say 'Third World' or 'Cooperation', and people tremble."
