Le Mali en colère après l’entrée d’un reporter saoudien sur son territoire
In Mali, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement yesterday, Saturday, May 16, expressing its "strong disapproval" to Saudi Arabia following the "illegal entry of Al Arabiya state television correspondent Ibrahim Moustapha" into its territory. According to the ministry headed by Abdoulaye Diop, the journalist, who also works for Al Hadath, an Al Arabiya affiliate, violated "Mali's sovereignty." Even more serious, he benefited from the "complicity of terrorist groups."
"False and completely unfounded information"
The statement also formally rejected the "false and baseless information published by the aforementioned, the objective of which was to discredit the Malian Defense and Security Forces."
He deplores a "serious breach of journalistic ethics and professional standards" and "draws attention to the fact that such unacceptable actions by media based in Saudi Arabia, a brotherly country and historical friend of Mali, are likely to damage bilateral relations between the two countries."
In conclusion, the Malian Ministry of Foreign Affairs "reaffirms that no action by a country that violates the sovereignty, territorial integrity or unity of Mali will be tolerated."
