Législatives et Communales de 2026 au Bénin : La campagne électorale officiellement lancée
In Benin, the election campaign for the 2026 legislative and municipal elections begins this Friday, December 26, at midnight. This announcement was made by the president of the National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA), Sacca Lafia, in a statement released yesterday. The campaign will end on January 9, 2026, 48 hours before the combined elections scheduled for January 11 of the same year.
"To make these moments of (campaigning) a privileged space for the confrontation of ideas"
In his statement, the president of the National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA), Sacca Lafia, urged "those involved in this competition to make these campaign moments a privileged space for the exchange of ideas, education, and explanation of republican values, with the common goal of promoting and strengthening democracy and the rule of law in our country." He reiterated that Benin is "above political divisions."
Therefore, everyone must cultivate "peace and fraternity," stated Sacca Lafia. It is worth noting that the elections of January 11, 2026, will renew the members of Parliament and the country's municipal councils.
