Mali : Cette mirobolante somme récoltée auprès des sociétés minières

In Mali, the Commission for Negotiating and Renegotiating Agreements with Mining Companies submitted its report to the President of the Transition, General Assimi Goita. This took place during a ceremony held on Monday, December 1st, at the Koulouba Palace, in the presence of the Minister of Mines, Professor Amadou Keita.

“All mining companies are subject to the 2023 Mining Code.”

We learned from the presentation given by the Minister of Finance, Alousséni Sanou, that the commission had to face "all kinds of internal and external adversity, proposals, intimidation, reprisals and legal actions", but it succeeded in recovering "761 billion CFA francs on behalf of the State out of a target of 400 billion".

Furthermore, it has succeeded in subjecting "all mining companies (present in Mali) to the 2023 Mining Code", which should increase "the country's public revenue by 586 billion CFA francs per year".

A "real shift in the balance of power..."

For Mr. Sanou, this represents a "real shift in the balance of power between multinationals and mining countries, in a context of liberation war and regained sovereignty."
