Mali : Le CECOGEC appelle au calme et met en garde contre la désinformation
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the Interministerial Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management, through the Crisis and Disaster Coordination and Management Center (CECOGEC), informed the public of the security situation in certain localities of the country.
According to the authorities, major incidents have recently occurred on national territory, leading to a wave of dissemination of misinformation, rumors and propaganda content, particularly on social media.
Faced with this situation, CECOGEC warns against the risks associated with disinformation and urges the population to exercise discernment by referring exclusively to official sources.
In its message, the institution also calls for calm, restraint and vigilance, stressing the need for citizens not to relay unverified information.
It also calls on the population to cooperate with the defense and security forces, in particular by submitting to checks and reporting any suspicious behavior.
The statement also stresses the importance of avoiding gatherings during security force interventions, in order to facilitate the smooth running of operations on the ground.
Finally, CECOGEC seeks to reassure, stating that measures are underway and will be strengthened to guarantee the free movement of people and the protection of property throughout the territory.
The authorities are therefore calling for collective responsibility to preserve public order and support efforts to restore stability.
