Mystère en Algérie : Les eaux de la plage du «Cimetière» virent subitement au rouge
In Algeria, a rather unusual phenomenon has caused quite a stir in recent days in the wilaya of Algiers.
Indeed, the waters of a beach in the municipality of Ain Benian, located on the west coast of Algiers, suddenly changed color, turning red. Images of these reddish waters quickly circulated on social media.
In a statement released yesterday, Sunday, the wilaya services announced that they immediately deployed a monitoring committee to the beach. This committee was composed of agents from the Directorate of the Environment and Health, as well as representatives from the delegated wilaya of Chéraga, the Public Establishment for Urban Hygiene and Environmental Protection, and the relevant security services. The reason for the beach's discoloration is still unknown.
The water has finally returned to its usual color.
Analyses of water samples taken by teams sent to the field have not yet solved the mystery. However, the wilaya (province) announced some reassuring news: the water has finally returned to its usual color.
Investigations are continuing to determine precisely the origin of this pollution.
