This is good news for Clémence Aissatou Habi Baré, widow of former Nigerien President Ibrahim Baré Mainassara. The military in power in Niamey has appointed her Niger's ambassador to the United States. The news was made public by the Nigerien Press Agency (ANP).
Dame Clémence Aissatou Habi is a physician specializing in parasitology and HIV/AIDS treatment. She was the head physician at the Pasteur Private Medical Clinic, a healthcare facility she founded.
Swept away by a bloody putsch
After her husband's assassination in 1999, she left Niger for France. It's worth remembering that former Nigerien president Ibrahim Baré Mainassara seized power by force on January 27, 1996.
He was in turn swept away by a bloody coup d'état on April 9, 1999. This putsch, fomented by his personal guard, proved fatal. To this day, his widow and the RDP, his political family, are calling for an independent investigation to elucidate his assassination.

Rectificatif : je pense que la famille de feu Ibrahim Bare Mainasara a d’abord été accueilli au Sénégal, où ils ont longtemps séjourné, c’est peut-être bien après que sa veuve est parti en France.
