Niger : Plusieurs rues et avenues de Niamey rebaptisées en hommage aux figures nationales
On August 19, 2025, the delegated administrator of Niamey, Colonel Boubacar Soumana Garanké, presided over the naming ceremony of several arteries in the capital, now renamed in memory of personalities who have marked the history of the country.
Among them, NB 64 Street becomes Avenue of the late General Ali Saibou, former President of Niger (1987-1993), praised for his commitment to serving the nation, while other streets and boulevards now bear the names of cultural and historical figures such as Hamsou Garba, Hawa Zaley, Zalika Souley, Ramatou Doudou, Sultan Agabba and Malam Younouss.
This initiative aims to perpetuate the memory of political, cultural and traditional actors who contributed to national unity and the influence of Niger.
