Parcelles-Assainies : Un tailleur arrêté par la police avec plus de 3 kg de chanvre indien
In the night of Friday, February 20, 2026, at around 1 a.m., members of the Research Brigade of the Parcelles-Assainies district police station arrested a suspected drug dealer in the Soprim housing estate for possession and trafficking of Indian hemp, according to Seneweb sources.
Alerted by a tip about drug trafficking in the area, police located the suspect's home and placed it under surveillance. They observed him entering a house with a brown backpack, which he was still carrying when he left, visibly full of drugs. He was immediately arrested.
A search of the bag revealed one kilogram of Indian hemp, divided into four packages of 250 grams each. With his consent, the police then led him to his room, located on the ground floor of a building, where a further search resulted in the seizure of an additional two kilograms and 250 grams of the drug, bringing the total to three kilograms and 250 grams.
The accused, MM, 24 years old, a tailor residing in the Soprim housing estate, readily admitted to the charges against him. He stated that he had purchased four kilograms of Indian hemp from a man named Daouda, based in Rufisque, at a price of 60,000 FCFA per kilogram, received via an unknown deliveryman, and that he had already sold part of the stock.
Placed in police custody, his two mobile phones, an iPhone XR and a Tecno, were seized for the purposes of the investigation. The Public Prosecutor has been informed and an investigation is underway.
