Présidentielle au Bénin : Les mots du président sortant Patrice Talon après son vote à Cotonou
Benin's current president, Patrice Talon, voted this Sunday, April 12, at the Charles Guillot Primary School polling station, located in Zongo in Cotonou's 5th arrondissement . After fulfilling his civic duty, the outgoing Beninese leader spoke to the national and international press.
“Benin has reached a new milestone in its history” »
He notably expressed his satisfaction at seeing the political reforms bear fruit.
“Since November-December, we have all witnessed an electoral process across the country aimed at changing the entire political leadership, whether legislative, municipal, or presidential… Everything is happening in a way we have rarely seen, and it gives me the feeling that, on all levels, Benin has reached a new milestone in its history. I want to share with you this feeling of near-completion. The political reforms have created many stories, clashes, and fights, but we can clearly see that today the entire population embraces this new way of life,” declared Patrice Talon.
"The presidential role, with 'the feeling of having given the best' of myself"
He says he is leaving the presidential office with "the feeling of having given his best," of having "helped the country take some steps in all areas."
“If our prayers are answered, whoever wins the elections will lead the country even further. The best is yet to come (because) the skills, the will and the know-how exist. All that is needed to go far,” continued the Beninese president.
