Tanzanie : Le gouvernement annonce l'annulation des festivités nationales
The Tanzanian government announced on November 24, 2025, the cancellation of ceremonies planned for the national day on December 9. The funds initially earmarked for the celebrations will be reallocated to repairing infrastructure destroyed during the violent protests that followed the October 29 elections, which the opposition denounced as "fraudulent."
According to several human rights organizations, the repression carried out by the security forces has caused hundreds of deaths among the protesters.
The election remains heavily criticized, particularly due to the exclusion of opposition figures like Tundu Lissu, and international observers have noted a process that is "far from perfect".
