Un amant retrouvé caché dans un sac « Ghana Must-Go » chez une femme mariée

It's a bizarre affair that is shaking the city of Birnin Kebbi, in northwestern Nigeria.

A man was caught red-handed in an act of infidelity while attempting a desperate evasion by hiding in a large carrier bag.

Agents from the Hisbah Council (the religious police force under the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Kebbi State) apprehended an individual in a most incongruous posture: the man was curled up inside a "Ghana Must-Go" bag — those famous large woven plastic bags — at the home of a married woman.

It all started on the night of Monday, May 18, around midnight 12:15. Vigilant neighbors, intrigued by the behavior of a man discreetly entering the young woman's property in the absence of her husband, decided to raise the alarm.

“The residents suspected an illicit relationship contrary to Islamic teachings, hence their decision to officially inform the authorities,” explained Sirajo Kamba, the council’s director of Sharia, in an official statement released on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Dispatched to the scene, the Hisbah patrol encountered the wife’s defensiveness. Faced with the officers’ questions, she firmly denied the presence of any third party in the house.

But the officers' persistence was undeniable. After heated discussions, the homeowner finally relented, allowing a thorough search of the premises. Room by room, the officers combed the house until they stumbled upon a large "Ghana Must-Go" bag. Upon opening it, the officers came face to face with the suspect, who had hoped to slip through the net.

Taken to the station for questioning, the two lovers could not deny the obvious for long. According to the authorities, they both admitted to having a clandestine affair.

The matter will not end there. The director of Sharia, Sirajo Kamba, has already announced that the two suspects will be formally brought before a court to answer for their actions and face legal proceedings, in accordance with Islamic law in force in the state of Kebbi.

A brutal end to the romance for the couple, and a story that will continue to be the talk of the town in Birnin Kebbi.
