[Billet d'humour] Amnistie : le piège de l’abrogation ?
In the midst of a campaign to lead the world, it was essential to first settle the country's affairs. So, without mincing words but with a certain flair for after-sales service, the former occupant of the Élysée Palace, a diplomatic smile on his lips, handed his successors a real hot potato: "Repeal the law, and we'll see." In simpler terms, "Turn on the light... but be careful what you might find in the room."
In a Republic where laws are sometimes born with a "return to sender" clause, amnesty has thus been transformed into a legal boomerang. Yesterday a shield, today a projectile. And in the middle, a comfortable majority, 130 well-padded seats, forced to choose between memory foam and mattresses.

The paradox is delicious. Those who demanded the truth inherit a key… that opens every door, including those they might not want to push open. Because repealing the law means summoning the ghosts of 2021-2024 to the dock, unfiltered, unedited, without an official narrator. A live broadcast without a teleprompter, where everyone can recognize any familiar face.
Meanwhile, the former head of state pleads not guilty with the serenity of someone who knows the case well—having closed it himself. “Who did what?” he asks. Simple question, explosive answer. It almost sounds like an invitation… or a challenge.
Deep down, everyone agrees. We have to move forward. But in Senegal, moving forward often feels like a high-wire act: walking straight ahead… while avoiding looking back. Because sometimes, in the rearview mirror, it's not the past we see. It's a future waiting for its moment.
