[Billet d'humour] Les acteurs et les épisodes du succès à crédit

They make us laugh on Sunday nights, cry during episode 37 of season 2, and shiver with their brooding glances. On screen, movie stars live in air-conditioned villas, drive luxury cars, and talk about love like they're reciting a poem. Off-camera, some of them count their bills like extras in their own lives.

In Senegal, fame comes faster than a salary. You become a star before you're stable, an icon before you're secure. So you play a permanent role: dark glasses, luxurious stories, a sponsored smile. Even poverty must be brightly lit. Even if it means praising success on credit.

The real problem arises when the character takes over completely. When Arona replaces Amadou, when the first name disappears beneath the pseudonym, when even the family confuses fiction with real life. You end up believing you have to live like you're on TV, even if the paycheck doesn't cover your expenses. So some people resort to improvisation. Bad script, very bad casting.

Cocaine, embezzlement, traffic violations… The local showbiz scene sometimes resembles a low-budget TV series, but with very real consequences. Here, there's no editing to save the scene, no director to yell “cut!” And justice, for its part, knows neither likes nor fan clubs.

The cruelest part of this story isn't the fall, it's the silence beforehand. The depression behind the selfies, the dark thoughts beneath the colorful suits, the mothers as the last line of defense when everything collapses. We applaud the actor, but we forget the man, especially when he no longer makes us laugh.

Ultimately, this series of scandalous affairs should primarily prompt us to lower the volume of applause and raise that of clear thinking. For true success may not lie in playing the wealthy on screen, but in returning home without having to play a role. And if the Senegalese entertainment industry has learned one lesson, it is this: before seeking a sponsor for a luxury car, it is better to find one for mental health. Because, unlike in television series, life has no stand-ins.

merci mass, on veut bien supporter le made in Sénégal mais c triste de regarder beaucoup de séries irréalistes et les drames et la violence sont constants, mais surtout les messages dilués d'arrogance, de matérialisme et d'amalgames et de pubs.
