[Grain of salt] Don't close the doors of the Daniel Sorano Theatre (by Betu Wurus)

[Grain de sel] Ne fermez pas les portes du Théâtre Daniel Sorano (par Betu Wurus)

Senegal is bored. And when the people twiddle their thumbs, it's because the Republic has disarmed its best orators. The political spectacle has ground to a halt, and now that the leading figures are behind bars, we can't stand the silence any longer! But frankly, who can ask us to remain calm?

We are bearing the brunt of SENELEC's exorbitant electricity bill, a punishment that reminds us how much of a struggle daily life is. We are incensed by the colossal debt of Macky & Co., which has resulted in taxes here and there, just to plug the gaps in a celebration we never even had. And after absorbing all this, the Republic expects us to sit quietly and be satisfied with Marie Faye's pronouncements? Impossible! We demand the release of the journalists. Not out of charity, but for the sake of public health. If you remove the stars of the conflict, if Madiambal has to put away his pen and Maïmouna turn off her microphone, you remove the only outlet for our frustration.

In a country obsessed with sensational cases, don't close the doors of Sorano, anything but that! And make no mistake, even Bougane Borom le 02, a self-proclaimed journalist because he has his platform, participates in this noisy spectacle that keeps the country awake. And that's all for the best. We need these voices that shout, even if they are excessive. Because they, at least, stand by their position. They aren't cowards of the last minute, like Betu Wurus.

Give us back the noise. Because if the people can no longer laugh or shout, they might well implode. And then, the show would be without sound or light. It would be like a funeral.
