For several weeks, the Senegalese journalist Cheikh Yérim Seck has distinguished himself in a repeated campaign of attacks against the President of the Republic of Guinea, going so far as to mention his health, his dignity and his honor.
Criticizing governance is a right.
But attacking the man, seeking to humiliate him and attempting to weaken his personal image goes beyond the limits of republican debate and responsible journalism.
What is even more regrettable is that such remarks can fuel unnecessary tensions between Guinea and Senegal, two brotherly peoples united by history, culture and blood.
Fortunately, Guineans know how to differentiate between the isolated statements of an individual and the Senegalese people with whom the ties remain strong and eternal.
Because no Guinean journalist would ever dare to attack the Senegalese President, even in his human dignity or state of health.
In Africa, respect for institutions and Heads of State remains a fundamental value.
So one question keeps coming up: why this relentless attack against the Guinean President?
Why this persistent desire to tarnish the image of a man who today embodies one of the greatest ambitions for the transformation of the African continent?
While some talk, Guinea builds.
Guinea is changing. Guinea is moving forward.
Guinea is changing.
Roads are being built. Modern infrastructure is multiplying. The energy sector is experiencing a new dynamic.
Investments are pouring in. The administration is modernizing.
Industrial projects are taking shape.
Mines are becoming a true lever of economic sovereignty. Young people are regaining hope.
And the state is gradually regaining its full strength.
Today, with the Simandou 2040 vision, Guinea no longer wants to be a rich country resting on its resources.
It wants to become an emerging, structured, industrialized and respected power.
Simandou 2040 is not just a mining project. It's a vision. A profound transformation. A promise of development for future generations.
It is the desire to make Guinean wealth a wealth at the service of Guineans.
That's what bothers some people.
But no media campaign, no personal attack and no attempt at destabilization will be able to stop the march of a people standing tall and looking towards their future.
The dignity of a President is not to be trampled upon. The honor of a Nation is not to be negotiated. And Guinea deserves respect.
It is time to stop these attacks. It is time to prioritize truth, responsibility, and brotherhood among our peoples.
History will remember those who build. Not those who destroy.
