8 Mars : Une playlist spéciale en hommage aux femmes

International Women's Day invites us to take a new step in the fight for equality. As every year, Seneweb offers you a list of songs that celebrate women in all their diversity.

This five-track playlist reflects the power, resilience, and commitment of women around the world. It celebrates those who, through their voices and lyrics, have demonstrated courage and an unwavering commitment to empowerment, inspiring future generations. From anthems of struggle to songs of activism, each track carries a powerful message.

1) Coumba Gawlo: “Woman object”

In this song, the Senegalese music diva celebrates women by breaking down barriers to promote equality within society. "Femme objet" (Woman as Object), as its title suggests, categorically rejects the idea of a woman being used without purpose or utility.

2) Oumou Sangaré:

"Moussoulou" is an epic song by the Malian diva Oumou Sangaré. A masterpiece of Wassoulou music, it revolutionized Malian music. Selling over 100,000 copies, it denounces forced marriages, celebrates love, and empowers women, establishing them as essential feminist icons in society.

3) Fatou Guewel: "Djigén"

"Djigén Gni" is undoubtedly one of the most famous songs in Fatou Guewel's repertoire. Through this song, she expresses her desire to see women in the highest positions of responsibility in the country. She also conveys a message about how women should be treated in society.

4) Djigén Gni Orchestra: "Women's Power"

A song dedicated exclusively to women, sung by an all-female orchestra from Senegal. This work highlights the role of women in various decision-making processes. According to the group, women hold an important place in society.

5) Sonia Cynthia Maria: “Respect me”

This song is dedicated to all women worldwide, and especially to Francophone women. "Respect Me" is a composition by Sonia Cynthia Maria. The Congolese singer advocates for greater respect for women around the world. It is important to emphasize that, particularly in Africa, respect due to women is not yet automatic simply because of their gender.

On this day, March 8, 2026, the Seneweb editorial team wishes a good day to all women around the world, especially those in Senegal, and to those who are seeking a better life in a better world for the daily lives of their families.
