Cinéma : le Sénégal représenté à Ouagadougou pour une rencontre des directeurs de la cinématographie des pays de l'UEMOA
Meeting in Ouagadougou, the directors of cinematography from the UEMOA countries and Guinea concluded their work on March 18, 2026, in a spirit of cooperation and solidarity in support of African cinemas.
On behalf of the participants, Germain Coly welcomed the Burkinabe authorities, emphasizing the importance of this meeting to strengthen cultural unity in the sub-region.
The participants endorsed the Ouagadougou Declaration on Audiovisual Sovereignty and the 2026-2030 Action Plan, which now serves as a common strategic framework for the participating states. The declaration reflects a collective commitment to strengthening public policies in support of film and audiovisual media.
Key measures include the creation of a permanent framework for consultation between film directors, the establishment of a regional agreement to stimulate co-production and combat piracy, and the creation of a regional support fund to finance works and increase their international visibility.
The text also provides for a harmonization of regulations governing streaming platforms, the development of an integrated distribution network including interconnected cinemas and a common digital platform, as well as the creation of a regional film market to strengthen investment and distribution opportunities.
