Coupe du monde de la presse culturelle : le Sénégal gardera-t-il sa place de leader de la compétition ?
As the organizing committee announces the publication this Friday, May 15th, of the list of finalists for the 7th edition of the World Cup of Cultural Journalism, one question is on everyone's lips: will Senegal retain its status as world champion? Since the first edition, Senegal has established itself as a leading force, notably thanks to the brilliant performance of Fatou Diouf, the reigning champion. The country can also be proud of the achievements of Seneweb, crowned world champion of cultural media in 2024, world champion in print journalism in 2023, and world runner-up in radio in 2025.
This year, several Senegalese applications have been registered, and speculation is already rife. Observers are scrutinizing the names of the finalists, wondering about Senegal's ability to maintain its dominance. At the heart of this anticipation lies a veritable ecosystem being analyzed: that of a country which, through its cultural press, has become a bridge between peoples and a benchmark for all of Africa. All eyes are now on Yaoundé, where each step of the process could redraw the map of the global cultural press.
