Pape Ale Niang alerte sur l'exode des producteurs sénégalais, attirés par la "politique culturelle" du Bénin
The Director General of Senegalese Radio and Television (RTS), Pape Alé Niang, has issued an urgent appeal to the authorities regarding an alarming trend in the national audiovisual industry. According to him, numerous production companies are leaving Senegal to establish themselves in Benin, attracted by a cultural policy they consider more promising.
Mr. Niang spoke during a panel on narratives and content for African media, as part of the first edition of the International African Media Fair (SIMA) held in Dakar. "Many production companies are now leaving Senegal to set up shop in Benin, where a genuine cultural policy attracts them. It's not just a question of television, but of the ecosystem that the State must organize to retain them," he stated.
The head of public broadcasting thus deplores the departure of many companies who find a more favorable environment for creation in other countries.
The Director General of RTS emphasized the radical evolution of the sector, made possible by the rise of digital technology, which has "profoundly altered" the relationship between producers and traditional television channels. "Some series broadcast on YouTube reach one to two million views in just a few hours. Producers no longer need to chase after traditional channels to gain traction," Mr. Niang observed.
Faced with this new situation, he advocated for the implementation of a comprehensive national strategy aimed at supporting and retaining players in the audiovisual sector in Senegal.
Pape Alé Niang cited Ivory Coast as a model of a country that has succeeded in transforming cinema and audiovisual production into real levers for tourism and economic promotion.
"In Abidjan, a trade fair focused on the theme 'Abidjan, land of filming'. The country now attracts many directors and benefits from this for its image and its economy," he stressed.
To counter the exodus and capitalize on national potential, the Director General of RTS invited authorities and professionals to engage in "intelligent and collective reflection" in order to create the conditions for the sustainable maintenance of production houses on Senegalese territory.

Une opposition à qui on joue le film d'une conquête du pouvoir mais qui prend la salle pour le stade des Martyrs lors de Sénégal-RDC. Fole de rage !
Comment se fier à des personnes qui n'arrivent pas à maîtriser leur déception, à accepter et respecter le choix d'un peuple? Et la vertu dans tout ça, les valeurs?Ou bien le choix du peuple est tellement absurde que vous avez perdu espoir? Vous ne croyez plus à la politique, dans sa noblesse?
Les textes considèrent les chaînes de tv comme des éditeurs, Par rapport à leurs contenus, ils sont appelés à collaborer avec les producteurs extérieurs, est-ce le cas pour la RTS?
Par rapport au Cinéma, non seulement la Rts ne diffuse pas les films qui lui sont offerts gracieusement par le monde du Cinéma, mais elle ignore qu'elle peut contribuer dans la production des films.....Quel réalisateur aujourd'hui peut espérer pouvoir bénéficier d'un apport de la Rts?
