«Un mandat africain» : plaidoyer pour Youssou Ndour
The director of the Senegalese Society for Copyright and Related Rights (SODAV), Aly Bathily, is calling on public authorities and cultural stakeholders to support Youssou Ndour in his role as vice-president of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC). In remarks reported by L'Observateur, he believes that they "must truly embrace this mission and understand that, beyond Youssou Ndour himself, it is actually Senegal that has been sent on this mission."
Bathily points out that the leader of Super Étoile assumes "an international and African mandate" and that he is called upon to work for "respect for the rights of creators, especially African creators".
Youssou Ndour was appointed in early June. He succeeds South African singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Mexican composer Arturo Márquez.
CISAC represents 5 million creators affiliated with 227 copyright societies from 111 countries.
