Banque Mondiale et FMI : Aissata Tall Sall élue Première Vice Présidente de…
On the occasion of the opening of the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, which will take place from October 13 to 18, 2025 in Washington DC, the new office of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the IMF was formally installed. This network, founded in 2000, brings together nearly 2,000 parliamentarians from more than 140 countries to promote critical dialogue on global economic policies and their impact on populations, particularly in developing countries.
MP Aissata Tall Sall, former Minister of Justice and renowned lawyer, was elected First Vice-President of this international network. Representing the West African region on the Board of Directors, she succeeds a long line of figures committed to transparency and fairness in international financing.
In a statement, Aissata Tall Sall expressed her "sincere gratitude" to her colleagues for this "new high mark of confidence." She pledged to stand "alongside President Sven"—referring to Sven Mikser, the network's new Estonian president elected for the 2025-2027 term—and bring her multidisciplinary expertise: that of a jurist (as a lawyer), an administrator (having served several times as minister and mayor of Saint-Louis), and a legislator (as a member of the Senegalese National Assembly).
With her experience at the heart of African and international institutional reforms, Aissata Tall Sall will pay "particular and objective attention" to the policies, projects and programs defined by the IMF and the World Bank in partnership with member states.

Sonko adopte un double discours : d’un côté, il critique ouvertement le FMI et affirme que le Sénégal n’a pas besoin de cette institution ; de l’autre, il envoie ses émissaires solliciter des décaissements. Cette attitude est incohérente et contre-productive.
Il faut rappeler que le FMI, bien qu’il soit une organisation internationale et non une entreprise privée, veille jalousement à sa réputation, son image et sa crédibilité à l’échelle mondiale. Elle ne peut pas se permettre que ses relations soient ternies par les déclarations d’un politicien populiste comme Sonko, qui cherche à la discréditer tout en bénéficiant indirectement de son soutien financier.
