Impacts éventuels de la Guerre au Moyen-Orient sur le Sénégal : le premier ministre Ousmane Sonko prend les devants
The Senegalese authorities are taking proactive measures. Since the start of the war in the Middle East, the price of oil has begun to rise. To prepare for all eventualities, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko chaired a special meeting on the issue this Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Its objective was to assess the situation regarding petroleum products in Senegal and to identify "anticipatory measures to be taken in an international context marked by the war in the Middle East".
According to the Prime Minister's office, the main objective was to "secure supplies and protect vulnerable households." The same source indicates that an inter-ministerial committee has been established for regular and rigorous monitoring of the situation.
The Prime Minister also ordered a full audit of stocks of flour, wheat, rice, fertilizer, and all other critical products. A decree is expected to eventually formalize this proactive work, aiming to minimize the impact of the war on the daily lives of Senegalese people.
