Macky Sall : « La réforme que je préconise au sein de l’ONU »
In his book "Africa at Heart," former Senegalese President Macky Sall calls for a profound overhaul of the United Nations system, which he considers "paralyzed" by a way of operating that has become unsuited to the realities of the 21st century.
According to him, the veto power of the five permanent members of the Security Council – the United States, Russia, China, France, and the United Kingdom – constitutes a major obstacle to the organization's effectiveness. "This paralysis affects other international organizations, such as the African Union or ECOWAS, whose decisions can be blocked by a simple vote at the UN," he lamented.
To remedy this situation, Macky Sall proposes a pragmatic reform aimed at giving more power to the General Assembly. He suggests, in particular, that on serious issues such as wars or genocides, a favorable vote of three or four-fifths of member states should be enough to validate a resolution without going through the Security Council.
A measure which, according to him, would offer the UN "a simpler tool to calm tensions, stop conflicts or condemn certain warlike adventures."
But the former head of state goes further, stating that he also advocates for greater African representation within UN bodies. "Africa's true place in international life is not given its true worth," he stated in his book, recalling that the continent hosts the majority of peacekeeping missions, has 54 UN member states, and more than half of the Security Council's issues concern Africa.
Macky Sall finally indicated that he is working in concert with several African leaders, including South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and the C10 group, mandated by the African Union to carry out this reform. This approach is part of a broader fight for more equitable and representative global governance.

Soyons sérieux et travaillons à développer l'Afrique pour que sa voie puisse être entendue. A titre d'exemple : l'omc est dirigée actuellement par une africaine. Mais elle est transparente comme une figuration.
L'achat de votes y serait une pratique courante et les riches commanderont.
Si la réforme de l'ONU est nécessaire et urgente pour la sortir de sa paralysie, elle se fera d'abord en imposant les décisions des organisations continentales (UA, UE, LA, etc) et en reconnaissant certaines sous régionales dès lors que la décision prise reflète une double majorité c'est à dire 3/5 des pays membres de cette organisation et représentant 65% des populations.
Les 5 membres de l'actuel conseil de sécurité ne voteront jamais la piste de réforme que vous souhaitez porter.
Le monde fuyait, il va committee un génocide si vous lui confiait les affaires onusiennes. C’est un recidiviste.
