Assemblée : Guy Marius Sagna accuse le FMI et d'autres institutions de faire la guerre au Sénégal
MP Guy Marius Sagna delivered a forceful speech in the National Assembly, mixing denunciation of international institutions, defense of sovereignty, social appeals and criticism of the handling of certain sensitive state matters.
According to the parliamentarian, Senegal has been facing a "war" for the past two years, waged by certain international institutions opposed to the new regime's sovereignist approach. In his remarks, he directly implicated the International Monetary Fund (IMF), accusing it of turning a blind eye to the hidden debt incurred under the previous regime. "Yes, there is a war against Senegal," the MP insisted, believing that certain international forces fear that a successful sovereignist experiment in Senegal could set a precedent in Africa. He also accused some Senegalese of collaborating with these institutions to the detriment of national interests, going so far as to call them "traitors to the nation."
The MP specifically addressed the situation of workers contracted through the PROMAF program, denouncing precarious contracts that have been renewed for over fifteen years. He argued that the "break" promised by the new authorities should also put an end to these practices, which he described as "thuggish" on the part of the state as employer. "Even if it's not today, we need to be told when these practices will cease," he pleaded, calling on the government to provide clarity for the affected workers.
Another issue raised was that of the King Fahd Palace. Guy Marius Sagna denounced the management of this hotel, which he considers a national treasure "threatened with ruin." The MP recalled that reports from the General State Inspectorate (IGE) had criticized the hotel's management and recommended the termination of the current contract. Also attacking the national dialogue initiated by the authorities, the MP argued that genuine dialogue should take place within republican institutions such as the National Assembly, municipal councils, and neighborhood councils. He criticized what he considers an opening to actors who have "contributed to plundering this country." In a direct address to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Guy Marius Sagna maintained that certain current policies would never have led to an electoral victory had they been clearly announced during the presidential campaign.
