« On ne peut pas perdre ...» : les gérants de stations-service préviennent
In its edition of Tuesday, December 9, L'AS reports on the "black anger" that animates the Association of service station managers of Senegal following the recent decrease in the prices of petroleum products decided by the State.
Ibrahima Fall, their president, quoted by the same source, clarified that while the managers do not oppose the measure itself, they denounce "the way it was implemented." Announced on Saturday through the press, without prior consultation, the decision caught the managers, who lease the stations, off guard, preventing them from organizing to adjust prices. Fall reiterated that the oil companies have "neither the legitimacy nor the right to interfere with these pumps."
Furthermore, he reports that some sites have even been sealed off by agents of the Ministry of Commerce. According to him, this decline results in a loss of "5 to 10 million CFA francs" per station. Fall warns the government, recalling that the industry, targeted by looters during the demonstrations, had already lost "1.1 billion in 2021, without the slightest reaction," and threatens that the situation could lead to a strike if it persists.
