Alerte dans les écoles de Pikine-Guédiawaye : le ministère de l'éducation dénonce des distributions d’argent non autorisées
The Ministry of National Education is sounding the alarm. In a press release published on February 17, 2026, the institution reports on incidents deemed "extremely serious" reported in the Pikine-Guédiawaye Academy.
According to reports, an individual claiming to be a Kuwaiti billionaire has been visiting several public and private schools, as well as Koranic schools (daaras), to distribute 5,000 FCFA banknotes to students. These initiatives were reportedly carried out without any administrative authorization or institutional oversight.
Faced with this worrying situation, the Prefect of Guédiawaye, having been duly informed, ordered the implementation of a security operation to locate and apprehend the individual in question. The relevant authorities have been mobilized to determine the true motives behind these actions, and promising leads are currently being pursued as part of the investigation.
The ministry emphasizes that student safety and the protection of school premises are an absolute priority.
In the aftermath, strict precautionary measures were taken. All heads of public and private institutions, as well as those in charge of daaras, received formal instructions:
• to no longer grant an audience to this person or any other person carrying out similar actions without official authorization;
• immediately report any attempt to visit or distribute money to the security services, the relevant administrative authorities and the educational hierarchy.
The ministry reminds everyone that any external intervention in schools is strictly regulated by the regulations in force.
Beyond administrative measures, the department calls on the entire educational community – particularly parents – to raise children's awareness of strangers and to encourage them to adopt cautious behaviors. It also calls for close collaboration with the authorities to protect the moral and physical well-being of students.
The statement reaffirms the authorities' commitment to ensuring a safe and protected school environment, in the best interests of students and the Senegalese school system.
