Bac 2026 : Un professeur d’anglais de Badiouré, meurt en mission à Tambacounda
The educational community of Badiouré, in the department of Bignona, is plunged into sadness after the announcement of the death of Amath S. Mbodj, an English teacher, which occurred in the night of Thursday 2 to Friday 3 July 2026, around 4 a.m., in Tambacounda.
Originally from Touba, Mr. Mbodj had dedicated more than two decades of his career to the Badiouré high school, where he trained generations of students since his arrival in 2006. Recognized for his commitment and rigor, he had left a lasting mark on the school and social life of the locality.
While on assignment for the baccalaureate exams, he suffered a fatal collapse. The day before his departure, he attended the end-of-year party organized by his colleagues and friends (on June 24th), a testament to his commitment to the educational community despite his fragile health.
Looking back on his career, the principal of the Badiouré high school emphasized that "the school opened its doors in 2005 and Mr. Mbodj joined us in 2006. Since then, he has never ceased to serve with dedication. More than twenty years of service represents a lifetime devoted to education."
He also emphasized the community's solidarity: "The village is deeply saddened. The residents mobilized to accompany the deceased to Touba. Two minibuses were chartered so that colleagues, former students, and relatives could pay their last respects."
Amath S. Mbodj leaves behind a grieving family, deeply saddened colleagues, and thousands of former students who will cherish the memory of a dedicated and passionate teacher.
