Éducation : pourquoi la grève du G7 est illégale
The G7, a coalition of the seven most representative teachers' unions, launched its second action plan last week to demand respect for agreements with the government. This plan includes a work stoppage, a national march, and a full-scale strike. However, according to Mamadou Lamine Dianté, president of the High Council for Social Dialogue (HCDS), this movement is illegal. "No strike in January is in accordance with the law," he stated in an interview published this Monday in Walfadjri.
The former union leader, who switched sides following the second change of government, cites the one-month notice period required by law between filing a strike notice and the start of the announced action. And since he submitted his notice on January 11, according to Dianté, the G7 should not have gone on strike before next month.
Faced with this situation, the president of the HCDS calls on the supervisory authority to take action. "It is up to the Ministry of Public Service to draw all the necessary conclusions. As the employing ministry, which receives the demands of all public service employees, it must be able to enforce the law," suggests Mamadou Lamine Dianté.
