The entrance exam for FASTEF (Faculty of Science and Technology of Education and Training) will not take place next Sunday. On its official website, the faculty announced that "the written exams for the LHG section, at the baccalaureate level, which were scheduled for Sunday, April 12, starting at 7:30 a.m., have been postponed." A new date will be communicated to those concerned.
This decision comes during a period of transport strikes making travel unlikely.
In a statement dated Thursday, April 9, the Saes section of Fastef expressed its concerns. "The context, marked by unlimited disruptions to intercity transport, severely affects the mobility of candidates, particularly those residing outside Dakar. This decision constitutes a serious breach of the principles of equal opportunity, transparency, and shared governance," the union stated.
The Saes had, in fact, asked its members to boycott the organization of the competition. It denounces what it calls a "unilateral action by the Dean's Office, which initiated the organization of the competition without prior consultation." This resulted in setting dates without taking into account a "reasonable notice period."
To participate in the competition, the union demands the immediate opening of discussions, consensual arrangements for the organization of the competition and the setting of new dates guaranteeing equal opportunities for all.
