KOLDA : Des élèves de CEM en grève pour réclamer des professeurs
The school system was disrupted this Monday in Kolda by a strike of middle school students demanding more teachers at their schools. To make their voices heard, they took to the streets, forcing their classmates out of other schools.
Located on the outskirts of Kolda, the Sinthiang Faraba middle school is plagued by a shortage of teachers in certain science subjects. Striking students accuse the Kolda education and training inspector of having removed teachers from the school and reassigned them elsewhere without replacing them.
Moreover, students at the Doumassou Plateau middle school were also in the streets last week for the same reasons. The same was true at the Dinguiraye middle school, in the Medina Yoro Foulah district.
During the last national reshuffle, more than 350 teachers from the Kolda academy were assigned to other regions of the country. This created a gap in Fouladou that the authorities are working to fill.
