« Mobilisés pour le BAC, menacés par l'audit » : Le dilemme des examinateurs et correcteurs
As the second group of baccalaureate exams begins this Thursday across the country, many teachers involved in organizing this national exam are facing an increasingly worrying situation. The cause: the overlap between their duties supervising the baccalaureate and the ongoing audits of state employees and civil servants, currently underway in several parts of the country.
Absent from their assigned posts due to their requisition for the baccalaureate exams, several teachers fear they will not be able to attend the administrative audit. They consider this situation particularly unfair, given that their absence is motivated by a public service mission.
According to several sources, a solution had been proposed that would allow teachers to be audited in the areas where they are assigned for the baccalaureate exams. However, this option appears difficult to implement. In several centers, the audits are scheduled for dates that coincide with the end of the second group of exams, thus preventing the teachers concerned from participating.
The examiners' dilemma: between national duty and administrative control
“We are serving the state by ensuring the smooth running of the baccalaureate exams. It would be paradoxical for this mission to expose us to administrative difficulties,” confided one examiner, speaking on condition of anonymity. “We cannot abandon the candidates to hastily return to our original schools for audits.”
The same concern is shared by Ms. Ndiaye, who was mobilized as a marker in an examination center: "We responded to an official requisition. We are simply asking that this exceptional situation be taken into account. It would be regrettable if teachers were penalized while carrying out a national mission," she argues.
For Samba Diaw, a member of a jury's secretariat, the most realistic solution would be an exceptional extension of the audit period. "We are requesting a flexible measure from the authorities. As soon as we return from the exams, we are ready to submit to all the audit formalities, just like our colleagues who remained in their institutions," he explains.
A request for a derogation or an extension of deadlines
The teachers involved point out that every year, hundreds of education staff are mobilized across the country to ensure the smooth running of national exams. In their view, this mission should in no way deprive them of their administrative rights.
Faced with this situation, they are appealing to the relevant authorities to consider extending the audit period or granting an exemption. They believe such a decision would reconcile the requirements of administrative oversight with the imperatives of organizing the baccalaureate exams, without harming state employees committed to serving the nation.
