Colloque international FASTEF UCAD — éducation transformative et inclusive

The Faculty of Education Sciences and Training Technologies (FASTEF) at Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) is hosting an international symposium dedicated to the profound shifts in education. These days of exchange focus on the theme: "Socio-economic Constraints, Pedagogical Innovations, and the Metamorphosis of Learning Spaces: Towards a Transformative and Inclusive Education".

Initiating this scientific gathering, Professor Emmanuel Faye, a researcher in psychopedagogy, highlights a framework for exchange that transcends national borders. The symposium brings together several partner universities engaged in over a decade of cooperation, notably those of Mainz, Bordeaux, and Paris-Créteil, alongside other researchers.

According to the organizer, this meeting takes place in a context marked by deep societal transformations, where education occupies a central place. "We are in knowledge societies that demand a new perspective on learners and those seeking education," he explained.

A major focus of the discussions is on inclusion, particularly the support of learners with disabilities, whether physical, intellectual, or related to the social environment. For Emmanuel Faye, this involves not only rethinking learning methods but also transforming the professional practices of teachers and curriculum designers.

This dynamic relies heavily on technological innovations. Computing and artificial intelligence are seen as essential tools to broaden access to education and meet a growing demand for training. "These technologies are not ends in themselves, but means that offer numerous possibilities," he clarified.

At FASTEF, this transformation is already visible. Indeed, the institution hosts approximately 2,000 in-person learners, compared to over 4,500 in distance learning—a model made possible through digital systems. This massification of educational offerings illustrates the decisive contribution of technology to the democratization of teaching.
