Tension dans les universités : Le message à chaud de Sonko aux étudiants
For the past few days, Senegalese universities have been abuzz with questions about scholarships and food services. This Saturday, during a political tour, Ousmane Sonko addressed the students on these issues.
“Students, you are our children. If you knew our ambition for you, you would return to your lecture halls to study and join us in our work. Because what we are doing today, we are doing for you,” said the leader of Pastef, head of the Senegalese government.
He stated that since the current system was implemented, he has always paid his scholarships on time at the end of each month. The current "misunderstanding" between students and public authorities lies elsewhere, he said.
"From the moment I took office, I told the Minister of Finance that I don't want to hear that salaries, scholarships, and marking bonuses haven't been paid. Pay them, even before the end of the month if possible. So there are no scholarship arrears or payment arrears. The misunderstanding lies with the back payments," he stated.
