UCAD : Askanou Sénégal exige le retrait des forces de l’ordre et le paiement immédiat des bourses
The citizen movement Askanou Sénégal published a strongly worded statement on Thursday denouncing the clashes between students and law enforcement at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD) and the serious disruptions to academic activities. "This situation is unacceptable and must stop immediately," the movement declared, offering its full support to students whose scholarships are several months overdue.
Askanou Senegal sets out three clear requirements:
"The current situation jeopardizes the future of thousands of students and tarnishes the reputation of the country's leading university," warns Abdoukhadre Sall, president of Askanou Senegal, who quotes Desmond Tutu: "Silence in the face of injustice is a form of betrayal."
The movement calls on the authorities to prioritize dialogue and to treat this crisis with the seriousness it deserves, far from any repressive approach.
