The Coordination of the SAES of the Alioune Diop University of Bambey has launched a call to wear red armbands on all university campuses starting this Monday, May 11, 2026. This decision is part of an action plan intended to denounce several dysfunctions deemed worrying within the university institution.

Meeting in general assembly on April 22, 2026, the SAES Coordination mainly discussed a failure in the internal management of the university as well as a lack of educational and administrative infrastructure.

According to union officials, these "deplorable" working conditions seriously affect the functioning of the university and undermine the dignity of teaching and research staff as well as that of all stakeholders at UAD.

For the restoration of the university's "dignity and prestige", the Coordination has established a series of demands including the improvement of internet connectivity on all campuses and at the university house, as well as the communication of the start date of the connectivity network work.

The union is also demanding an audit of the university portal works, arguing that the project was never officially accepted and that the final result differs from the model initially presented.

Other requirements include transparent and diligent management of procurement processes, communication around the Performance Contract (PC), the provision of a comprehensive infrastructure development plan, and better signage for the various university services with directional signs.

The SAES-UAD also demands a definitive solution for the university's main avenue, currently in a state of advanced disrepair, an emergency infrastructure plan with the construction of autonomous teaching and administrative buildings for each UFR and institute, as well as the refurbishment of buildings at risk A and B.

The Coordination also demands the completion of laboratory construction projects underway since 2015 and a solution to secure the descent located at the entrance to the university.

As part of the first phase of its action plan, the union calls on all its activists to strictly respect the slogan of wearing a red armband and to remain mobilized for the continuation of the planned actions.

The Coordination finally reaffirmed its commitment to the university's motto: "Excellence is my constant and Ethics my virtue", assuring that it would continue its commitment to serving students and Senegalese society.
