The Ziguinchor academy is preparing to launch the school sports day in anticipation of the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026. The Aline Sitoé Diatta stadium has been chosen to host this day under the theme: "School sports, a breeding ground for talent for the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Dakar 2026".

 

The Ziguinchor Academic League of School Sports and the Ziguinchor District School Sports Committee, responsible for organizing the event, have worked to set up several activities. Students from the various schools involved in this launch will be able to compete in different disciplines, both boys and girls.

The activities include, among other things, football performances for elementary, middle and secondary school students, athletics (girls' and boys' relay races) and gymnastics.

For football performances, at the elementary level, the Amadou Tidiane Beye elementary school will face the Marie Affinco Diatta elementary school.

The women's football matches will pit CEMT against Lycée El Hadj Omar Lamine Badji of Djibock and CEM Lyndiane 2 against CEM Boucotte Sud. The senior men's match will feature Lycée Niaguis against Lycée El Hadj Omar Lamine Badji of Djibock.

The gymnastics demonstration will be performed by students from CEM Néma 2.

This launch of the school sports day in view of the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026 scheduled for this Wednesday, January 28 in Ziguinchor will take place in the presence of educational authorities including the Inspector of the Academy and the IF of Ziguinchor and also sports authorities in the person of the Regional Director of Youth and Sports.
