Crues du fleuve : Routes submergées entre Bakel, Khoughany et Yaféra-Golmy, établissements et maisons envahis par les eaux

The rising waters of the Senegal River are not without consequences for riverside populations. In the Bakel department, the waters have left their banks and invaded the adjacent low-lying areas. Between Bakel, Khoughany, and Yaféra-Golmy, where roads are cut, it is a repeat of last year's deplorable situation. Road transport is already experiencing disruption due to the flooding that has invaded certain localities where people now have to take canoes to get around. Witnesses speak of a worrying situation in the face of the advancing waters, which have already invaded settlements in the village of Arounda. Some fear that other infrastructure will be submerged by the floods.

Members of the Bakel Departmental Flood Management Committee, who met to assess the flood situation in the district, reported that "three villages are currently affected by the waters: Aroundou (the middle school and the Koranic school), Yaféra (three flooded houses) and Golmy (a compound invaded by the waters)." Among the measures taken, the committee, which is working to rehouse the victims, has made "1,000 sandbags" available to the heads of the affected villages to counter the advancing waters. In addition, "40 life jackets have been provided to village heads to secure river transport, which is increasingly used due to the collapse of the Kounghany bridge and the impassability of the Bakel - Kounghany - Golmy road," a source close to the committee said.

In the implementation of an active response, the CDGI of Bakel put into circulation a canoe offered by the PRDC-VFS to the commune of Ballou (submerged in 2024) to facilitate travel.

In its response plan, the departmental flood management committee expressed its needs as "106 tents, 10 motor pumps (150 m3/h) and accessories, financial support, food, fuel, medicines, detergents, etc."

Administrative and territorial authorities, in coordination with the State's technical services, have taken measures relating to awareness-raising, security, and particularly intervention. In this dynamic, the 63rd fire and rescue company of the Bakel fire brigade has been reinforced in personnel and material resources to deal with possible flooding in the department.

Le ministre de l'hydraulique viendra faire le médecin après la mort encore. Pourtant cela pouvait être évitable s'il était rétroactif.
Il faut que Bougane revienne aider les sinistrés pour que ce ministre se réveille.
