Lâchers d'eau du barrage de Manantali : L’appel de Soura Tirera à la tribune de l’UNESCO à ses compatriotes de la diaspora
Patron of the 2nd edition of the International Day of the Soninke Language (JILSo 2025), Soura Tirera took advantage of this celebration at UNESCO on September 26 to issue a call for vigilance to the populations of the Senegal River Valley, during this period of water releases from the Manantali dam. The Senegalese businessman also took advantage of this platform to alert his compatriots to the consequences of this phenomenon which cuts roads, threatens agricultural production, schools and health facilities.
He thus called on the Soninkés of the diaspora to make efforts to find solutions to this situation which has become recurrent and complex in the affected villages.
"Together, let's find sustainable solutions by combining emergency aid, prevention actions and long-term development efforts as part of a more comprehensive climate adaptation strategy, involving governments, international institutions and society to relieve our populations."
Soura Tirera also paid tribute to the entire Soninke community on this international day dedicated to their language.
