A dramatic event has shaken Yeumbeul. A gendarme serving at the Mbao LGI and a tourist guide were caught red-handed by the police on the night of April 25-26, 2026, according to exclusive information from Seneweb.

A smell that betrays the two suspects

Around 10 p.m., officers from the Yeumbeul-Comico district police station's investigation unit, alerted by information about a marijuana use and trafficking network operating out of a house in the Allou Baye Niakh neighborhood, went to the scene. Upon approaching, they detected a strong smell of marijuana through a bedroom window. They then entered the house and caught two individuals in the act of using the drug.

The gendarme, Mr. Ba, attempted to crush the joint he was holding, but after some resistance, the two suspects were subdued.

500 grams discovered in a chicken coop

A search of the room and the house uncovered several residues as well as a bag containing 500 grams of cannabis, carefully hidden in a chicken coop, according to Seneweb sources. All the seized products were sealed.

The individuals arrested are Mr. Bâ, 30 years old, a gendarme serving at the Mbao Gendarmerie Brigade, residing in the Sonatel housing complex in Yeumbeul, and D. Cissokho, 53 years old, a tour guide, residing in the Allou Baye Niakh neighborhood of Yeumbeul. During questioning, they partially admitted to the charges against them.

The police officer denies being a drug trafficker.

During questioning, Gendarme M. Bâ admitted to going to the residence to smoke marijuana, but categorically denied being a trafficker, claiming the drugs belonged to his accomplice. Both men were taken into custody for offering, supplying, possessing, and using marijuana together. Prosecutor Saliou Dicko was informed of the facts.

Et pourquoi pas ne pas dépénaliser l'usage du chanvre indien. Plus il est interdit plus, les gens s'adonneront à l'usage.
