MS Diagne, a security guard at the famous "Vogue" nightclub, was arrested and brought before the prosecutor by the Faidherbe Research Brigade (BR). He is being prosecuted for indecent assault of a 17-year-old minor with violence.
The alleged victim, A. L., is a student at a school in Dakar. She recounted her ordeal to her mother, who filed a complaint against the security guard.
The events date back to the night of February 5-6, according to Libération, which broke the story in its Thursday edition. Accompanied by her boyfriend and classmates, she went to Vogue for the "100 days before the baccalaureate" party.
"Around 4 a.m., the newspaper rewinds, wanting to go to the toilet, she asked her boyfriend to accompany her. Once inside, the two young people were surprised by MS Diagne as the boy was helping his girlfriend zip up her dress."
According to the complainant, the security guard asked them to leave the premises and use different exits. She stated that she took the service stairs, followed by Ms. Diane.
Suddenly, AL continued, the security guard grabbed her by the neck and tried to kiss her by force. The teenager resisted and managed to escape.
Returning inside the nightclub in search of her boyfriend, the complainant once again came face to face with her alleged abuser. MS Diagne didn't lay a hand on her, but offered her his phone to get her number. "Overcome with fear," Libération reports, "A. L. complied, giving him a fake number. The next day, she told her mother everything, and her mother went to the police station with her."
While he admitted to asking A. L. for her number, the security guard denied attempting to assault her. He swore he simply asked the young couple to leave when he caught them "in an indecent position in the women's restroom," adding that he "led A. L. to another room just to remind her of the nightclub's rules."
MS Diagne was presented to the prosecutor this Wednesday.
