De la mosquée à la prison de Mbour : surpris en train de voler un mouton, un père de famille se réfugie dans les toilettes et déclare une diarrhée sévère
A father named El Hadji Mor Diop was found guilty of attempted theft and sentenced to two years in prison, with six months to be served, by the Mbour court. L'Observateur, which attended the trial, reports that the defendant was caught one morning at dawn inside a house in Saly Portudal holding a ram he had just stolen from its enclosure. To get himself out of trouble, the newspaper explains, he claimed he had to relieve himself early in the morning in a neighbor's yard.
Diop had just finished his morning prayers at the neighborhood mosque. But instead of going home, he made a detour to the house of a man named Ousmane Guèye. "All the doors to the mosque's toilets were closed. I climbed over the wall to relieve myself," the accused stated in court, as reported by L'Observateur, which noted that he clarified that the "urgent need" was uncontrollable diarrhea.
However, the newspaper reports, when caught red-handed by the head of the family and handed over to the Saly Portudal police station, El Hadji Mor Diop admitted to the attempted sheep theft. But his attempt to evade the court with a fabricated version of events failed.
