A case that initially appeared to be a simple financial dispute ultimately uncovered a network involving drug trafficking, fraud, and impersonation in Rufisque. The urban security division of the central police station brought two individuals before the public prosecutor, charged with criminal conspiracy, offering and selling cannabis and synthetic drugs (kush), impersonating a public official, and fraud.

The investigation was launched following a complaint filed by a woman demanding repayment of a loan of 500,000 CFA francs. According to her account, she had advanced this sum to a man tasked with collecting part of the payment for a vehicle sold to a third party.

But during his hearing, the suspect gave a very different version of events. He claimed that the money was actually for a drug purchase (kush) intended for resale through a third party. Summoned for a confrontation, the complainant acknowledged the existence of drug trafficking, while maintaining that it involved cannabis and not synthetic drugs. However, she denied any connection between this activity and the debt mentioned in her complaint.

But the investigation took a new turn with the questioning of the third party implicated in the case. He revealed that he had already filed a complaint against the woman for fraud with the public prosecutor in February 2026. He explained that he had been deceived after the main suspect presented the complainant to him as a supposed customs captain. Trusting this false claim, the victim asserts that she handed over the pair a total of 1,555,000 CFA francs.

Faced with the complainant's statements and the evidence gathered by investigators, the two accused eventually admitted to the facts.

At the end of the procedure, the suspects were brought before the prosecutor's office to answer the charges against them.
