The Diokoul neighborhood of Rufisque is gripped by shock and outrage. According to information from L'Observateur, a 33-year-old man, Y. Gning, an employee at a local factory, has been taken into custody at the central police station. He is accused of repeated rapes and acts of pedophilia against three girls, aged 7, 8, and 10, all daughters of his roommates.
The newspaper reports that this two-faced neighbor, who lived in apparent harmony with his neighbors, took advantage of this climate of trust to lure his victims into the privacy of his ground-floor bedroom. The scandal broke on April 1st, when the parents of the youngest victim, only 7 years old, noticed disturbing abnormalities in her gait.
Interviewed by the Urban Security Unit (SU) in the presence of their parents, the victims gave chilling and consistent testimonies. The 7-year-old girl, quoted by the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias (GFM), recounted: "Y. Gning laid me down on his bed, took off my clothes..." She went on to explain that the accused "started licking her private parts" and that he "also inserted his finger into my vagina and rubbed his penis against mine, repeatedly."
She also revealed an even darker side of these assaults, adding: "He sometimes laid me down on his bed with my friend, AG (8 years old)."
The investigation yielded testimony from a third victim, 10-year-old Nd. F. Mb., whose family had moved since the events. She broke her silence to denounce similar abuse dating back to the time they shared the same roof as the suspect. In childlike but unambiguous language, she described how the perpetrator, after undressing and caressing her, "repeatedly inserted a snake" into her vagina.
The horror of these accounts was confirmed by a medical examination conducted on April 3rd at the Youssou Mbargane Hospital in Rufisque. The gynecological reports are damning. For the two youngest girls, the Gfm news outlet details, doctors noted recent hymenal tears, bruising, and vaginal congestion. For the 10-year-old child, the examination revealed old hymenal tears and vaginal laxity, indicating repeated assaults.
The investigation is continuing in order to identify other victims of the alleged predator.
