Lac Rose : Il transforme sa maison en station-service, arrêté avec 770 litres de carburant par la BR de Keur Massar
A major fuel trafficking ring has just been dismantled by the Keur Massar Company's Research Brigade. Plainclothes gendarmes arrested a trader red-handed at his home with a large quantity of illegally stored fuel. A total of 770 liters of diesel and gasoline were seized.
Information that puts the police on the trail
It all started with an anonymous tip reporting trafficking and illegal sale of fuel (diesel and petrol) on the edge of the commune of Niague, more precisely in Keur Marème Mbengue, in the Lac Rose sector.
Based on this information, the Keur Massar Research Brigade is activating a team of observation and surveillance gendarmes. An operation is being meticulously prepared to dismantle this trafficking, according to Seneweb sources.
Saturday, October 18: Arrest in flagrante delicto
On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the surveillance team took action. Plainclothes gendarmes went to the suspect's home and arrested him in the act. A. Baldé, a shopkeeper born in 1990, was caught balancing the contents of fuel cans in his own home.
A search that reveals the extent of the trafficking
The search carried out at the accused's home revealed an impressive quantity of illegally stored fuel:
-35 20-litre cans filled with diesel and petrol (700 litres)
-5 10-litre cans filled with diesel (i.e. 50 litres)
-20 1-liter cans filled with gasoline (20 liters). A total of 770 liters of fuel were seized.
A trafficker who refuses to denounce his suppliers
When asked about the source of the fuel, Baldé said he could not identify his suppliers, claiming they only occasionally crossed paths. This version of events did not convince investigators.
At the end of this operation, the trader was taken to the premises of the Keur Massar Research Brigade and all the cans filled with fuel were seized as evidence.
Following the investigation, the suspect was brought before the public prosecutor last Monday for illegal trafficking in petroleum products.
