A night that was supposed to be festive nearly turned into tragedy for a 16-year-old middle school student. The incident occurred on the night of April 23, 2026, around midnight, at Place de la Nation in Dakar. A teenage girl, R. Diouf, a 9th-grade student residing in Niarry Tally, had gone to Place de la Nation to attend a public event.

At the end of the day, the 16-year-old girl found herself lost and looking for directions home. A man offered his help… before committing acts of violence. It was in this vulnerable state that she approached a 32-year-old man named B. CISSÉ, residing in Sébikotane, to ask for directions to Niarry Tally. Instead of giving her directions, he invited her to sit next to him, promising to walk her home after a chat. Once the minor was seated beside him, B. CISSÉ began to pat her buttocks and breasts, which he also sucked, according to the victim's statements. These acts constitute indecent assault on a minor, aggravated by the context of abduction.

Alerted during the night, the Medina district police station immediately dispatched officers to the scene. B. CISSÉ was apprehended and briefly questioned. He readily admitted to the alleged acts of touching, while categorically denying having had sexual relations with the minor. He was immediately taken into custody. The young girl, R. DIOUF, was taken to Abass Ndao Hospital at the request of the court, to determine whether or not sexual intercourse had occurred.

The Public Prosecutor has been informed of the case, which is now proceeding through the judicial process.
