Sextorsion à Kaolack : piégé en plein acte intime, sa vidéo finit entre les mains d'un redoutable gang
The Kaolack Research Section has dismantled a network specializing in blackmail using intimate videos. Operating behind fake female profiles on WhatsApp and TikTok, the three suspects lured their victims into compromising video calls before secretly filming them and demanding ransoms. They were brought before Prosecutor Abass Yaya Wane of the Saloum High Court on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
It all begins on May 15, 2026
The story begins on May 15, 2026, when the complainant, O. Kébé, went to the Kaolack Research Section to file a complaint. He accused the owner of the WhatsApp account "Amina," associated with the number 70 9..., of having tricked him into an intimate video call before threatening to release the images if he did not pay a ransom of 50,000 FCFA.
According to his account, he was contacted on May 11, 2026, by a woman named "Amina." After exchanging photos, a paid video call costing 2,000 FCFA was arranged, during which both parties appeared naked on screen. Taking advantage of the situation, his contact captured images of the victim before demanding an additional 3,000 FCFA, then 50,000 FCFA under threat of publication on social media.
The police raid
Having taken up the case, the gendarmes acted methodically. On the same day, a request was sent to the managing director of Wave Senegal to obtain a statement of incoming and outgoing financial transactions related to the account in question. A visit was then made to the Wave CAI point of sale, a location regularly frequented by the suspect.
The analysis of surveillance camera footage made it possible to formally identify the main suspect: PS Sy, and to locate his home.
The following day, May 16, 2026, a raid on PS Sy's home led to his arrest along with that of his two accomplices, PO Wade and B. Sy. The search resulted in the seizure of the phones used to commit the crimes, on which numerous pornographic videos were discovered, as well as compromising exchanges between the three suspects via WhatsApp.
A well-established modus operandi: false identity, altered voice, and blackmail.
The hearings revealed a well-oiled system. PS Sy readily admitted to creating the fake WhatsApp and TikTok account under the name "Amina," posting sexually explicit images and videos to attract followers. Possessing a natural ability to alter his voice to mimic a woman's, he posed as a young girl during video calls, encouraging his interlocutors to expose themselves on camera while discreetly filming them with a second phone. The captured images were then used as leverage to extort ransoms via Wave.
He cited PO Wade and B. Sy as his main associates. While PO Wade confirmed possessing compromising videos entrusted to him by PS Sy, B. Sy admitted to being aware of his accomplice's illicit activities since Ramadan, while denying direct involvement.
Brought before Prosecutor Abass Yaya Wane
At the conclusion of the investigation, serious and consistent evidence was gathered against the three suspects. PS Sy, PO Wade, and B. Sy were brought before Prosecutor Abass Yaya Wane of the Saloum High Court on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. They will face the following charges: criminal conspiracy, fraud, blackmail, identity theft, and obtaining property through electronic means, according to Seneweb sources.
The National Gendarmerie, under the command of General Martin Faye, calls on citizens to exercise the utmost caution in the face of suspicious solicitations on social networks, and to report without delay any act of blackmail or online fraud to the competent authorities.
